Description

1998 UNITED KINGDOM TWO POUNDS ABOUT UNCIRCULATED

✦ THE DETAILS

1998 Two Pounds (United Kingdom). Composition: Bi-metallic (outer: Cupronickel, inner: Nickel-brass).

Condition: grades in the verbal range above (raw, conservative seller estimate). 1998 UK £2 bi-metallic coin showing moderate circulation wear consistent with About Uncirculated. Specific observations: portrait hair detail partially worn but visible, cheekbone shows smoothing from handling, outer ring has lost all mint luster, multiple small contact marks in fields and on devices, natural toning on both metals. No trace of original luster remains. Strike is full with all design elements present. Surface preservation is average for a circulated modern bi-metallic with typical bag marks and minor abrasions. Grade of About Uncirculated reflects light to moderate wear on more than 50% of the design with full details except for minor softness on high points, matching Heritage’s About Uncirculated definition.
